  • Visual programming based smart actuation system for large scale IoT

Undergraduate Thesis at Carnegie Mellon University

    GitHub repository

Rule engine is a node-red based tool to program simple rules to actuate devices that are connected to the Building Depot IoT platform. It is a very unique way in which users can interact with the sensors deployed around them and their devices. The system employs machine learning on the sensor data collected to first filter the sensors releveant to one user, and then actuate the device associated with that user.
    Salient Features:

    • It is built on the IoT Platform GioTTo part of the Google IoT Expedition for large scale sensor deployments.
    • The system provides a very transparent and modifiable platform using Node-red to the rules made by the machine learning system.
    • It can actuate any device registered on the platform and on the generic actuation engine (for more details see).

Lockheed Martin Corp. Roll On/ Roll Off Payload Design Challenge

    News Release

This project was a part of a university-industry collaboration of BITS Pilani and Lockheed Martin Corp.

    Work:
    • Designed a payload for Lockheed Martin’s flagship plane C-130J Super Hercules targeting humanitarian relief and rescue.
    • Developed an MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) algorithm using 2 staged PID regulator to improve efficiency of Solar Panels in the Hybrid power system.
    • Prototyped crucial electronic circuits for power management and distribution.

Implementation of a low cost system for LiFi (Light Fidelity)

    Git Repository

Implemented a single LED-photodiode based inter-computer file transfer system.

    Work:
    • Simulated and analysed the effects of Gaussian Noise,Attenuation, Multipath effects on the VLC(Visible Light Communication) system using Simulink(MATLAB).
    • Successfully implemented serial inter-computer data transfer at a speed of 25 Kbps satisfying the IEEE 802.15.7 standards.

Project Anna: A dorm room personal assistant

    Git Repository

My first experiment with IoT and Home Automation. Anna is a personal dorm assistant who can help actuate lamp and automate tasks on the computer using voice commands. C# is used for the UI/UX and arduino is used for interfacing the lamp with the system.
